Meeting of OTS Foreign Ministers underway in Gabala – UPDATED

The Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) held a meeting on October 7 in Gabala.

According to Report, the meeting took place ahead of the 12th Summit of the Heads of State of the OTS, which will also be held in Gabala.

Azerbaijan"s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov noted the positive dynamics of cooperation among OTS member states.

"Today, we will hear proposals from member states on further strengthening our organization. On the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev, the increase in the number of annual OTS summits to two has created an opportunity for prompt, in-depth, and comprehensive discussions on cooperation prospects," the minister said.

Bayramov emphasized the importance of comprehensive political coordination and demonstrating solidarity in the face of current global and regional security challenges. "The strength of the OTS as a symbol of unity can play an even more significant role in the emerging new architecture of international security. Azerbaijan"s consistent efforts and targeted actions toward normalizing relations with Armenia, with which it had been in conflict for decades, are also aimed at establishing peace and stability in our region," he stated.

The minister also underlined that OTS member states, from a geographical perspective, form natural transport, logistics, and transit routes, serving as a bridge between the continents of Europe and Asia. "The organization possesses enormous potential in this regard. This route is also an integral part of the Middle Corridor. The announcement of the TRIPP route during the Washington Summit, which will ensure unhindered connectivity between Azerbaijan"s western regions and Nakhchivan via the Zangezur Corridor, is an important step toward diversifying communications in our region."

The meeting of the OTS Council of Foreign Ministers continued with further discussions.
