Matthew Bryza: Azerbaijan-Armenia peace deal to boost investment in region

Following the signing of a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the region is expected to see a rise in investments, according to Matthew Bryza, a former US ambassador to Azerbaijan (2010–2012), Report informs.

Bryza made the statement during the First Azerbaijan International Investment Forum held in Baku.

He highlighted Azerbaijan's growing influence through enhanced international engagement:

"Azerbaijan has changed significantly over the past 27 years. Back then, when I arrived at the airport, all I could see were roads and gas stations. This time, everything is completely different. Look at the decisions made since 1994-Azerbaijan attracted foreign investors to the country."

Bryza emphasized that the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia would serve as a catalyst for regional investment:

"After the peace deal is signed, investment in the region will increase."

He also pointed to the strategic importance of the Zangazur Corridor:

"It holds great potential and is significant for the region."
