Italy is working on creating a national system for localizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), built on multi-level interaction between municipal, regional, and state structures, stated the representative of Italy's Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, Mara Cossu, in a video address at an event within the framework of WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.
According to her, Italy, together with UN-Habitat, is developing a special platform that should help cities and agglomerations develop joint solutions in the field of sustainable development.
"Policy coherence is not just a principle, but a working method that unites different levels of governance and integrated planning," she noted.
Cossu particularly emphasized the importance of strengthening interaction between national governments and metropolitan territories as a key condition for the effective implementation of the sustainable development agenda at the local level.
