Ukraine and Azerbaijan are holding talks on the restoration and reconstruction of war-affected areas, including the implementation of joint infrastructure projects in Irpin, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba said in an interview with Report on the sidelines of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
According to him, WUF13 has become an important platform for discussing cooperation between the two countries.
"Today's forum is the best example of our cooperation with Azerbaijan. At WUF13, we are holding meetings with government representatives to discuss a wide range of issues – from restoration to infrastructure and the economy," he said.
Kuleba noted that the restoration of Irpin remains a key area of cooperation.
"We have joint projects in Irpin. Azerbaijan is helping restore four sites that are symbolic for Ukraine. We are very grateful to Azerbaijan for this support," the deputy prime minister emphasized.
According to him, the parties are also holding technical consultations on the implementation of specific projects.
"We are discussing the implementation details at the technical level, and I am confident that this will be a very fruitful cooperation for both Ukraine and Azerbaijan," noted Oleksii Kuleba.
He also mentioned humanitarian cooperation between the countries, including projects to rehabilitate Ukrainian children in Azerbaijan.
Speaking about Ukraine's participation in WUF13, Kuleba emphasized that Kyiv views reconstruction not only as addressing the consequences of war but also as an opportunity to modernize the country.
"Today, we are not only talking about tragedy. We view reconstruction as an opportunity to create new, more resilient infrastructure, and we are ready to share this experience with our partners," he stated.
