Kairat Sarybay: Azerbaijan's chairmanship to best shape future of CICA

Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) will best shape the future of the organization, Secretary General Kairat Sarybay told journalists at the 13th meeting of the organization's Think Tank Forum in Baku, Report informs.  

Sarybay emphasized that the CICA agenda covers comprehensive security, political, environmental and humanitarian dimensions, as well as economic integration and transport connectivity in Asia and beyond.  

Noting that Azerbaijan supports multilateral cooperation, he added that the CICA Think Tank Forum will discuss how one can advance the process of interaction and cooperation, because development is impossible without security, and security is impossible without trust in each other.  

He emphasized that the main mission of CICA is to develop trust among member states through real actions involving youth, women and economic actors. An effective institution is needed, and therefore, CICA is undergoing a transformation process to become a full-fledged international organization, he said.  

Kairat Sarybay expressed confidence that the Azerbaijani chairmanship will best shape the future of the organization.
