Hikmat Hajiyev: Over 50 million tons of cargo growth expected along Middle Corridor

More than 50 million tons of cargo growth is expected along the Middle Corridor, said Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, Report informs.
Hajiyev made this statement at the 6th Caspian Business Forum held in New York, dedicated to the theme "Connectivity, Finance, and Energy along the Middle Corridor."
According to him, Azerbaijan is making additional investments for this purpose. "Baku Port has an annual capacity of 25 million tons of cargo, and work is underway to expand these capabilities," Hajiyev added.
The official stated that the implementation of the railway project stretching from Baku to Zangilan and the Armenian border began in 2020 and is expected to be completed by mid-2026: "Work is also being carried out on the 42-kilometer Zangazur segment located in the territory of Armenia, with participation from our partners from the United States. The third segment covers Nakhchivan. Additional investments are being made in this area as well, and we invite other international partners, including European countries, to collaborate. The main objective is to transform the South Caucasus into a space of cooperation."
