FM Bayramov briefs Guterres on post-conflict normalization efforts

Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York, according to the MFA statement, Report informs.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Nations, as well as regional and international developments.

Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan has been engaged in fruitful cooperation with the UN and its specialized agencies. In particular, the successful holding of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum in Baku on May 17–22 was noted with satisfaction.

Additionally, Azerbaijan's strategic ties with Central Asia and its role in the field of transport and communications were emphasized.

The parties exchanged views on regional peace and security, sustainable development, climate action, and ongoing efforts to strengthen the effectiveness of the UN-centered international system, the MFA said.

Minister Bayramov also briefed Secretary-General Guterres on developments in the South Caucasus, including post-conflict normalization efforts and the regional peace agenda. Azerbaijan's active engagement within the United Nations framework and continued cooperation on issues of mutual interest were highlighted.
