The Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation plays a special role in the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia.

As Report informs, Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Samir Sharifov stated this at an event dedicated to the National Day of Saudi Arabia.

"The Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation established by the governments of Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia plays a special role in deepening interaction in political, trade, investment, energy, agricultural, tourism and other spheres," he said.

According to him, commission meetings and political consultations are effective mechanisms for discussing and promoting bilateral relations.

Sharifov recalled that on April 28, 2025, the eighth meeting of the commission was successfully held in Riyadh, following which a protocol was signed. The document, according to him, will make a significant contribution to the development of bilateral cooperation.

The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of the Saudi Arabian delegation's participation in the first Azerbaijan Investment Forum in Baku, during which an agreement was signed with ACWA Power on the construction of a seawater desalination plant.
