Azerbaijan advancing preparations to implement Kigali Amendment

Azerbaijan is advancing national preparations for the implementation of the Kigali Amendment.
Mukhtar Babayev, the Azerbaijani President's Representative on Climate Issues and COP29 President, wrote this on X following his participation in a UNIDO side event on the Green Cooling Transition Accelerator during the 8th GEF Assembly in Samarkand, Report informs.
According to him, rising cooling demand is increasingly becoming both a climate and development challenge, requiring stronger efforts on energy efficiency, sustainable urban development and modern cooling technologies.
Babayev said he emphasized the importance of regional cooperation, technology transfer, investment and practical implementation to support the transition to sustainable cooling as climate processes increasingly move toward delivery and implementation following COP29.
He added that Azerbaijan ratified the Kigali Amendment in 2025 and is currently advancing national preparations for its implementation.
