"I was fond of football since childhood. I try to watch important games at the stadium. Yesterday I watched the match of our national team at the stadium," Azerbaijan's new Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov said.
"Unfortunately, our squad lost in yesterday's game. Like other citizens, I regret that they lost. We would like our footballers to play better," he stressed.
"I believe we must work with the Football Federation to develop this sport further," Gayibov added.
Azerbaijani national team lost to Portugal with a score of 0:3 in the qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup. The match took place at the Baku Olympic Stadium.
