Baku expects over 12,000 foreign tourists for Formula 1 Grand Prix

Over 12,000 foreign tourists are expected to arrive in Baku during the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Report informs referring to the Baku City Circuit company.

According to the organizers, last year, more than 80% of the stage's spectators were foreigners.

Many came to the capital even without tickets - just to feel the atmosphere of the race. According to Formula 1 statistics, 55% of fans are ready to recommend the Azerbaijani stage to friends, and 72% plan to return within the next two years.

The average spending of one foreign guest is about $2,200, which turns the Grand Prix into a factor in the development of tourism and business in the country. In 2024, the broadcasts of the Baku race attracted an audience of 86 million viewers, and the total number of people interested in the competition on various platforms exceeded 3.9 billion viewers. Taking into account the high interest in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, two new stands were built this year.

Of the 12 stands, 10 are already completely sold out, the total capacity will exceed 20,000 seats. More than 2,000 engineers, technicians and fitters are involved in the preparation for the race. On the days of the stage, they will be joined by another 1,500 employees, 2,000 volunteers and 1,400 marshals.

If previously most of the work was carried out by foreign contractors, now the process has completely transferred to local companies, which creates new jobs and improves the qualifications of Azerbaijani specialists.

The Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix will be held from September 19 to 21.
