World Bank grants funds to restore Absheron lakes

The World Bank has allocated a grant to Azerbaijan under the Livable Baku project, aimed at restoring Absheron's degraded lakes and developing the surrounding areas.

According to Report, the funding will support the revision and update of existing feasibility studies and technical design documents for Lake Zigh, Lake Khojasan, and Lake Boyukshor. A portion of the grant will be allocated to consultancy services.

The appointed consultants will reassess and modernize outdated technical and economic feasibility documents. Given the significant time since the original studies were completed, updated assessments are required to guide the restoration and development process effectively.

Work is expected to begin in November, with the total cost estimated at $500,000.
