MP: Azerbaijan needs to broaden economic stimulus measures

Budget consolidation could slow short-term economic growth, so it is necessary to broaden comprehensive stimulus measures to support business and the economy, Azer Amiraslanov, Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on Economic Policy, Industry, and Entrepreneurship, said during the first reading of the 2026 state budget draft, Report informs.

Amiraslanov noted that the budget package represents forecasted state revenues and expenditures approved by law.

"Turning these projections into actual spending depends on generating budget revenues through taxes. This requires strengthening the national economy's ability to generate income, mobilizing economic potential, and fully utilizing entrepreneurial capacity," he stressed.

He added that while fiscal sustainability and financial stability are pillars of macroeconomic stability, sustained economic growth must also be ensured. "Given that budget consolidation may slow growth in the short term, we need to broaden economic stimulus measures. It is important to optimally integrate fiscal, monetary, and industrial-investment policies into a unified economic strategy," Amiraslanov concluded.
