Last year 64% of imports to Azerbaijan weren’t subject to VAT

Azerbaijan imported goods worth $10.73 billion last year, Chairman of the State Customs Committee Safar Mehdiyev said at an event dedicated to the results of 2020 and the future objectives, Report informs.
At the same time, 59 percent of import operations have been exempted from customs duties, he said.
‘Some 41 percent of transactions were subject to customs duties. Of them, 26.5 percent of imports were subject to 15% duties, 8.2 percent – to 5% duties, and 5.6 percent – to specific rates of customs duties,’ he said.
Mehdiyev noted that the share of VAT exemptions in total imports was 64 percent.
