Expenditures on science, education to increase by $404M in Azerbaijan

As much as 5.2 billion manats ($3 billion) is planned for education and science, one of the national priorities in Azerbaijan until 2030, an increase of 658 million manats ($387 million), or 14.3%, compared to the 2024 budget, Azerbaijani Finance Minister Sahil Babayev said at a plenary session of the Milli Majlis (parliament) on the 2026 budget package, Report informs.
"In the medium-term budget period, that is, in 2026 compared to 2022, spending on education and science will increase by 36%. Next year, the number of students enrolled in state-funded programs and at state expense will reach 150,000, and the number of scholarship recipients will reach 121,000. Next year, 42 million manats ($24 million) is projected for education and scholarship expenses for 18,500 students in privileged categories, including people with disabilities, those deprived of parental care, families of martyrs, and war veterans," he noted.
