The transfer of personal data to cloud systems when using artificial intelligence poses a risk.
Elnur Eyvazlı, Director of the Information Security, Cybersecurity and Digital Fraud Prevention Department at the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), said this at an event titled "The Future of Financial Cybersecurity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence" held in Baku, Report informs.
"We must always be ready, meaning continuous preparedness is important to respond promptly to every incident and prevent them. As for artificial intelligence in general, the whole world is currently trying to use this technology. Naturally, this is viewed positively and supported. Artificial intelligence makes work much easier. Information that previously required hours of searching on Google can now be obtained within minutes, or even seconds.
However, there is an important point here: the concept of sovereignty. We must never transfer personal and sensitive data to artificial intelligence systems. This is because many of the artificial intelligence services we use are cloud-based. If on-premise systems located within an organization are used, this may be somewhat more controlled. But personal data transferred to cloud systems can create serious security risks, and that data could potentially be used against us," he said.
The CBA official also said that while emphasizing the advantages of artificial intelligence, it is important to take its negative aspects into account.
"When working with any document or information, we must correctly assess the value and sensitivity level of that data. In other words, we must determine in advance how confidential the data is and in what cases it can be shared. A decision should be made after this assessment. In general, the approach is that this process is like a large chain: all companies depend on one another, and every organization must pay serious attention to its cyber hygiene," he said.
