Bank deposits in Azerbaijan down

As of May 1, 2026, the deposit portfolio of Azerbaijani banks exceeded 41.337 billion manats (just over $24.3 billion), Report informs, citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
This figure is 0.8% lower compared to the previous month, 0.9% lower compared to the beginning of the year, and 0.2% lower compared to May 1, 2025.
Of the total portfolio, 47.4% or just over 19.608 billion manats (more than $11.5 billion) fell to non-financial organizations, marking a 15.6% annual decrease.
Year-on-year, household deposits increased by 18.8% to approximately 17.642 billion manats (nearly $10.38 billion), while financial institutions' deposits rose by 22%, surpassing 4.087 billion manats (just over $2.4 billion).
During the reporting period, short-term deposits stood at roughly 22.17 billion manats (just over $13.04 billion), which is a decrease of 4.1% compared to May 1, 2025. However, long-term deposits grew by 4.7% YoY, exceeding 19.168 billion manats (approximately $11.3 billion).
