Azerbaijani PM: Producing statistical data in line with int'l standards is key focus

Today, Azerbaijan's national statistical system is being steadily developed, with the production of official statistics based on innovative approaches and aligned with international standards remaining a central priority, Prime Minister Ali Asadov said, Report informs.

He made the remark at the 3rd CIS International Statistical Forum held in Baku under the theme "Prospects of Statistics: International Projects."

Asadov noted that modern challenges such as artificial intelligence (AI) necessitate the development of new methodologies, tools, and approaches in the field of statistics, as well as the accurate identification of future goals: "To achieve these goals, effective international cooperation and proper evaluation of its potential are essential. We place special emphasis on reforms in official statistics that are grounded in modern technologies, AI, and digital transformation. Azerbaijan actively collaborates with leading countries and international organizations in this area, striving to contribute to the global development agenda."

The prime minister also highlighted that, by decision of the UN Statistical Commission, World Statistics Day will be celebrated on October 20, 2025, under the theme "Quality Statistics and Data for Everyone": "I am confident that this forum, held in the lead-up to that significant day, will be remembered for its productive discussions, forward-looking initiatives, and meaningful exchange of knowledge and experience among the statistical community."
