Azerbaijan's Economic Council mulls budget forecasts for 2026

Azerbaijan's Economic Council has held a regular meeting, the main topic of which was the state budget for 2026 and macroeconomic forecasts for 2025-2029, Report informs referring to the Cabinet of Ministers.

The council meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Ali Asadov.

The council members discussed the draft forecasts of the state and consolidated budgets for 2026, as well as the indicators of the consolidated budget for the next three years, global economic development trends, the main assumptions used in budget forecasts, the current economic situation and updated macroeconomic forecasts for 2025-2029.

Particular attention was paid to the main goals, directions and objectives of the budget policy for 2026-2029, financing of reconstruction and restoration projects in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur, as well as the further implementation of the Great Return program.

The Council members discussed medium-term expenditures and areas of application of performance-based budgeting, budget rule targets, the current situation in the field of macroeconomic and financial stability, policy directions and other issues.

The meeting heard updates from Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Finance Sahil Babayev,  Chairman of the Central Bank Taleh Kazimov and Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Anar Aliyev.

Following the meeting, the relevant structures were instructed to submit to the Cabinet of Ministers all documents and information included in the 2026 budget package, taking into account the opinions and proposals of the members of the Economic Council.

The documents will be submitted to the president of Azerbaijan at the next stage.
