Azerbaijan prioritizes expanding local production of medicines and medical supplies

One of the main priorities in Azerbaijan's healthcare sector is to expand local production of medicines and medical supplies and strengthen supply security, Yasin Jalilov, CEO of the Azerbaijan Business Development Fund (ABDF), stated at the First Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2025) in Baku, Report informs.

Jalilov emphasized that the challenges in logistics and medicine supply revealed during the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of domestic production. "For this reason, investing in the production of medicines, medical supplies, and generic drugs in Azerbaijan has been identified as a key strategic direction," he said.

He added that ABDF supports innovative projects in healthcare and medical tourism. "The Fund invests not only in the financing of hospitals and clinics but also in projects aimed at developing research and development institutes, digital healthcare, and biotechnology sectors," Jalilov noted.
