SOCAR updates decarbonization plans

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has updated its decarbonization plans in line with new climate targets, Hikmat Abdullayev, Deputy Vice President of SOCAR, said at the 31st Baku Energy Forum.

According to Report, he said SOCAR is revising its decarbonization strategy and strengthening efforts to reduce emissions.

"We have started aligning our decarbonization goals and activities with national objectives, as we are one of the largest emitters in the country," he said.

He emphasized that in recent years SOCAR has been working to make decarbonization an integral part of its daily operations.

"Our goal is to maintain current production levels, diversify the energy portfolio, and direct significant resources toward decarbonizing core operations," Abdullayev said.
