Parviz Garibzada: South Caucasus to become transit hub for green energy supply

The South Caucasus region is poised to become a transit hub for the transportation of renewable energy, according to Parviz Garibzada, Expert for the International Energy Agency's (IEA) EU4Energy program for Azerbaijan, Report informs.
Garibzada shared this insight during the event titled Green Energy Week 2025: Azerbaijan and Central Asia, held in Baku.
He emphasized that regional integration and cooperation with neighboring countries are crucial for the development of the renewable energy sector: "Azerbaijan has strong ties with Russia, Iran, and Georgia in this regard. Once a peace agreement is signed with Armenia, effective cross-border cooperation among the three South Caucasus countries will be established. In the future, green hydrogen produced in Azerbaijan could also be transported to Europe via Türkiye."
The expert added that Azerbaijan could play a transit role in delivering renewable energy from Central Asian countries: "We have good relations with these countries. I believe the South Caucasus will become a key transit hub for renewable energy supply in the future."
