Oil spill reported at Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal

An oil spill occurred at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) marine terminal during cargo operations involving a tanker through the hoses of the CPC-2 single point mooring system. As a result of the incident, some oil reached the sea surface.
According to CPC, cited by Report"s Kazakhstan bureau, the volume of the spill is being clarified, and cleanup of the oil emulsion is underway.
"There are no casualties or injuries, and there is no risk of fire. The causes of the incident are being determined," the statement said.
Due to the incident, the CPC-2 single point mooring system has been taken out of service for an indefinite period.
