Kazakhstan, Türkiye eye cooperation in geological exploration

Kazakhstan and Türkiye discussed prospects for cooperation in geological exploration and the development of joint oil and gas projects.
Report informs, citing KazMunayGaz JSC, that the discussions took place during a meeting between Askhat Khassenov, Chairman of the company's Management Board, and Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar as part of Baku Energy Week.
The parties discussed the development of cooperation with the participation of Türkiye's state oil and gas company Turkish Petroleum Corporation, and also reviewed the joint study of prospective areas in the territories of the two countries and the exchange of geological data.
In addition, the Bolshoy Zhambyl area in the northern Caspian Sea, where Turkish Petroleum Corporation is conducting a technical and economic assessment, was also discussed.
The parties also touched upon the implementation of an agreement on cooperation in oil services signed during Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's state visit to Kazakhstan in May this year.
The possibility of expanding the participation of Kazakhstan's oil service companies in TPAO's international projects is being considered.
At the end of the talks, the parties reaffirmed their intention to strengthen partnership and develop cooperation in the energy sector of the two countries.
