Javid Abdullayev: Development of Azerbaijan's Road Map for SDG 7 completed

The process of developing Azerbaijan's Road Map for SDG 7 (Sustainable Development Goal 7) has been successfully completed.

Report informs that Javid Abdullayev, Director of the State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources under the Ministry of Energy, said this at the 31st Baku Energy Forum.

Abdullayev stressed that the document provides a comprehensive assessment of Azerbaijan's progress in the energy sector and identifies key opportunities and challenges.

"At the same time, this document also contributes to the implementation of Azerbaijan's Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement. As Azerbaijan continues to expand its renewable energy potential and strengthen regional cooperation through the development of green energy corridors and cross-border electricity trade, this Road Map serves as a strong analytical basis for informed decision-making and long-term strategic planning," he said.

He added that the Road Map was developed based on the NEXSTEP methodology, a comprehensive framework for energy planning, emissions modelling and policy analysis.

"Through this approach, we assessed various energy transition pathways and examined the extent to which existing and planned policies can support the achievement of SDG 7 targets and our climate commitments by 2035," Abdullayev said.
