Kyrgyzstan has signed agreements to develop renewable energy sources with a total capacity of around 6 GW and has already begun implementing several large-scale projects with foreign investors, Kyrgyzstan's Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev said at the 31st Baku Energy Forum.
Report quotes him as saying in 2025 an investment agreement was signed with the Vietnamese company Rox for the implementation of projects with a total capacity of 1,900 MW and investments of around $2 billion.
"The project is already being actively implemented, and the first capacity of 175 MW is expected to be connected to the grid on June 14," the minister said.
He noted that the next stage includes the commissioning of 400 MW, while the third phase, with a capacity of 1,300 MW, is expected to be completed by 2028.
"As a result of the project, total generation is expected to exceed 1 GW of installed capacity," Ibraev emphasized.
The minister added that the development of renewable energy remains one of Kyrgyzstan's key priorities.
At the same time, he said the country"s main task is the rational use of water resources, as well as ensuring regional energy and food security through electricity supplies to neighboring states.
