GECF chief: Azerbaijan demonstrates smart energy strategy

Azerbaijan offers a practical example of a "smart" strategy.

Report informs that Gas Exporting Countries Forum Secretary General Philip Mshelbila said this during his speech at Baku Energy Week.

"Azerbaijan offers a practical example of a 'smart' strategy," he said, adding that expanding renewable energy potential can reduce domestic gas consumption, support economic growth and create additional opportunities for natural gas to contribute to regional and international energy security.

According to Mshelbila, gas infrastructure, interconnections and long-term cooperation remain important factors in ensuring the efficient delivery of energy from resources to markets.

"In this spirit, Baku Energy Week is an important platform for international dialogue, international cooperation and achieving other solutions around the world. I thank the government of Azerbaijan and the organizers for hosting this important gathering and wish Baku Energy Week success," he said.
