Gasimov: Eco-friendly technologies should be applied in petrochemistry

Oil, gas, and chemical engineers should implement technologies that cause less harm to the environment, according to Elmar Gasimov, Rector of the Baku Higher Oil School, Report informs.

Speaking during a training seminar for students organized with the support of the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency under the Ministry of Energy, as part of the preparation of the National Strategic Outlook Document on Hydrogen in Azerbaijan, Gasimov noted that society holds certain stereotypes about the oil, gas, and chemical sectors.

"Humanity, in some sense, blames specialists in these fields for environmental damage. Chemical engineers are criticized for the creation of plastics and polymers. Modern approaches, however, are aimed at minimizing harm to the environment. We will apply newer and more advanced technologies to ensure less damage to ecology," he said.
