The "green" energy transition must be socially fair and economically sustainable, Moldova's Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu said at the 31st Baku Energy Forum.
According to Report, he said that, like many other countries, Moldova faces three key challenges in the energy sector.
"The first is security of supply. The second is affordability and competitiveness of energy prices. And, of course, promoting the green transformation and green agenda. At the same time, it is important to ensure that the green transition is socially fair and economically sustainable. We must not forget how important competitiveness and price affordability are for households and businesses," the minister noted.
Junghietu emphasized that Moldova's policy is not limited to building new generation capacity.
He said the country is also making progress in energy efficiency projects, modernization of energy networks, and integration of new energy storage capacity.
"These are three key components that will help make energy more affordable and maintain competitiveness in the market," the minister said.
