Brent rises to $66.44 per barrel

Oil prices have risen ahead of the meeting to be held between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to Interfax, cited by Report, as of 18:59 Baku time (GMT+4), October futures for Brent crude on the London ICE Futures exchange were up $0.81 (1.23%) at $66.44 per barrel.

September WTI futures on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) were up $0.81 (1.29%) to $63.46 per barrel.

"The uncertainty surrounding US-Russia talks continues to increase the risk premium, as buyers of Russian oil may face greater economic pressure," stated in an analytical note by Rystad Energy.

Notably, Putin's meeting with Trump will take place on Friday evening in Alaska. US President Donald Trump predicted that his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin has a 25% chance of failure. Trump also expressed openness to hitting Russia with additional sanctions if the meeting doesn’t end well.
