Azerenerji details work done in Khankandi, Khojaly, Aghdara, and Khojavand

Azerenerji OJSC has carried out extensive infrastructure work in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan immediately following the anti-terror operations conducted on September 19–20, 2023, the OJSC told Report.

Just four days after the operation, Khankandi and the surrounding areas were disconnected from Armenia's energy grid and connected to Azerbaijan's national power system via the 110 kV Shusha substation-bringing Azerbaijani electricity to the region for the first time in 30 years.

According to the statement, urgent restoration work was completed at the neglected 50 MW Sarsang Hydroelectric Power Station, which resumed operations in early October 2023. In the Aghdara district, several small hydroelectric stations were also repaired and reactivated: Hasanriz (10 MW), Toraghay-1 (3 MW), Toraghay-2 (5.9 MW), Toraghay-3 (5 MW), and Toraghay-4 (0.8 MW).

In line with the Karabakh Energy Strategy, modern infrastructure has been established in the region.

"A fully enclosed 110/35/10 kV Khankandi-1 substation has been built and is ready for operation. A 12 km double-circuit line connects it to the Shusha substation, and 1.8 km of underground cable has been laid within the city. Underground cable tunnels have also been constructed from Khankandi-1 to the Aghdam junction and Hasanriz substations.

Local residents have been recruited and trained to staff the Khankandi Grid Service. A third circular power supply line has been established toward Kalbajar, with new 110 kV lines laid along the Dashkasan–Kalbajar and Kalbajar–Gorchu routes. Additionally, a 16.7 km line has been completed from Kalbajar to Aghdara via the Kalbajar–Hasanriz corridor.

A 14.7 MW Gozlukorpu Small Hydroelectric Power Station has been constructed on the Tartar River. Installation work is complete, and the facility is currently undergoing final calibration," Azerenerji stated.
