According to the forecasts of the Azerbaijani government for the next four years, gas production in the country will be actively increased precisely in 2022-2023, primarily at the expense of the second stage of development of the Shah Deniz field, Report informs referring to own sources in the government.
In 2021, Azerbaijan will produce more than 40 billion cubic meters (possibly more - 41 billion cubic meters) of gas.
Commercial gas, part of which will be received by domestic consumers, and the other will be exported, will account for about 30 billion cubic meters of total production. Moreover, Shah Deniz will produce about half of this volume - 21 billion cubic meters of gas.
According to forecasts, by 2023, production at this field will reach a maximum (plateau) - about 26 billion cubic meters. The plateau will be maintained for several years due to measures to support the level of production, drilling and commissioning of new wells.
Reaching the peak of stage 2 and maintaining the plateau will be ensured until 2027 by the phased commissioning of the wells of the western, southeastern, southwestern and northeastern flanks of the field.
Next year, the total gas production in Azerbaijan will amount to 44.42 billion cubic meters, including 33.8 billion cubic meters of commercial gas.
Production will reach almost 48 billion cubic meters (36.6 billion cubic meters – commercial gas) in 2023 and over 49 billion cubic meters of gas (including 37.4 billion cubic meters of gas for consumers) in 2024.
Last year, Azerbaijan produced a total of about 37 billion cubic meters of gas, 18.1 billion cubic meters of which came from Shah Deniz.
