Azerbaijan reduces aviation fuel exports to major supply markets

In the first nine months of this year, Azerbaijan exported 30,604 tons of kerosene fuel worth $ 15.408 million, respectively, down 65.12% and 66.66% from the previous year, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.
This year's exports are at their lowest level in at least the last ten years (Note: official open trade statistics are as of 2011). Thus, the volume of exports of this product in January-September 2019 amounted to 145,310 tons, in 2018 - to 255,410, in 2017 - to 140,270, in 2016 - to 173,500, and in 2015 - to 186,560. At the same time, during 12 months of 2014 (Note: quarterly statistics of foreign trade for 2011-2014 are not available in official sources), the volume of aviation fuel exports amounted to 295,380 tons, in 2013 - to 252,920, in 2012 - to 258.48 thousand tons, in 2011 - to 243,470.
The decrease was primarily due to a 99.97% decline in exports to Afghanistan, the main supply market. Thus, Afghanistan accounted for 55.74% of total exports of these fuels in the first nine months of 2020, and for 59.17% and in the previous year. At the same time, the volume of exports to Luxembourg made up 30.43%, Ukraine - 68.6%, Russia - 85.78%, Turkey - 47.1%, Germany - 84.15%, the United Arab Emirates - 96.55%, Qatar - 99.21%, China - 96.99%, and India - 95.14%. In the same period last year, these countries imported 21,040 tons, 3,530 tons, 3,240 tons, 2,230 tons, 1,940 tons, 1,69 tons, 701,740 tons, 637,100 tons, and 558,230 tons of kerosene.
According to the results of the first nine months of this year, exports of this fuel to Georgia rose from 6,750 tons last year to 11,973.42 tons. In total, there was an increase in exports to seven countries. Their share (excluding Georgia) in total exports was 1.09%. Azerbaijan has exported to a total of 37 countries this year. For the same period last year, this figure was 60.
