Azerbaijan raises electricity production by 8%

In 2021, Azerbaijan produced goods and provided services worth 2.614 billion manats (+7.1% from 2020) in the production, distribution, and supply of electricity, gas, and steam, Report informs, citing the State Statistics Committee.

The volume of products in the water supply, waste treatment, and processing sector increased by 18.2% to 444.3 million manats.

In 2021, Azerbaijan delivered 25.958 billion kWh of electricity, which is 0.5% more than in 2020. Of this, 25.163 billion kWh was commercial electricity, which grew 8.4%.

Hydropower plants accounted for 1.243 billion kWh (+19.8%).

Thermal power plants accounted for 23.776 billion kWh (+7.9%).

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan's wind power plants generated 89 kWh, a decline of 6.7%.

In 2021, the country's solar power plants produced 54.2 million kWh, 18.3% more than in 2020.
