Azerbaijan plans to increase gas exports and expand its production potential through new projects to strengthen Europe's energy security, Deputy Energy Minister Kamal Abbasov said during panel discussions held on the second day of Baku Energy Week, Report informs.
According to him, Azerbaijan supplies gas to Europe through both long-term contracts and spot sales.
"Long-term contracts provide stability for our partners, while spot sales offer flexibility. This approach helps meet Europe's changing energy demand and strengthen energy security," Abbasov said.
The deputy minister said the strategic energy partnership between Azerbaijan and the European Union, as well as the signed Memorandum of Understanding, creates opportunities to further deepen cooperation.
"Azerbaijan's proven natural gas reserves amount to 2.6 trillion cubic meters. Last year, gas production in the country stood at around 52 billion cubic meters," he added.
