Azerbaijan is close to completing grid studies on renewable energy, aiming to raise the share of installed renewable capacity to around 43% by 2035, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said at the 31st Baku Energy Forum, Report informs.
The minister pointed out that Azerbaijan is firmly implementing its green agenda while also creating electricity corridors between the Caspian region, the South Caucasus, Türkiye, Central Asia, and Europe: "Plans to develop 8 gigawatts of renewable energy for domestic consumption, exports, as well as for powering artificial intelligence infrastructure and data centers by 2032 are being successfully carried out. The integration of 2 gigawatts into the national grid will be completed next year."
Shahbazov underscored Azerbaijan's role in building new energy bridges across Eurasia: "In today's reality, where connectivity has become a new power architecture, Azerbaijan is constructing new energy bridges through electricity and green energy. In this context, the feasibility study of the Caspian–Black Sea–Europe green energy corridor project, which envisages the phased transmission of 3.9 gigawatts starting from 2032, will be completed by July this year. At the same time, the feasibility study of the Central Asia–Azerbaijan energy corridor project, financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), is expected to be finalized in May 2027."
