Azerbaijan is a strategically important partner for ACWA Power in terms of developing green projects, ACWA Power Business Development Director Polina Liubomirova said at the Azerbaijan & Central Asia Green Energy Week 2025 in Baku, Report informs.
"Azerbaijan is a strategic country for us, where we can demonstrate best practices and promote the development of sustainable and green projects. We support Azerbaijan's strategy for a greener and more sustainable development through the various projects we are implementing here," she noted.
According to Liubomirova, ACWA Power views each country holistically, based on the needs of not only the national economy but also the region as a whole.
She emphasized that Azerbaijan faces certain challenges, and the company is striving to address them through its ongoing projects. Among the key initiatives, she highlighted the construction of a 200 MW wind farm, scheduled to be commissioned in December of this year. This facility will be one of the largest in the region.
"Furthermore, ACWA Power recently signed a public-private partnership agreement to build a seawater desalination plant in Azerbaijan. This is a significant event for both Azerbaijan and ACWA Power," she added.
