Climate Action Week kicks off in Baku

First day of Climate Action Week concludes in Baku

The first day of Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW) has concluded in Baku.

According to Report, the opening ceremony-attended by high-level officials-featured discussions on the outcomes of COP29.

Sessions were also held on topics such as the green economy, skills development for SMEs, climate legislation, and just transition.

These sessions explored how global commitments can be translated into concrete actions in Azerbaijan, focusing on the transformation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), mobilization of green finance, and strengthening of relevant institutions.

Additionally, a parliamentary-level roundtable was organized on the first day, dedicated to climate legislation and institutional capacity for achieving net-zero emissions. MPs and experts exchanged views on legislative practices, the role of independent advisory councils, and attracting private sector investment.

Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW) has kicked off in the Azerbaijani capital, hosting its second edition, Report informs.

The first forum was held in 2024 ahead of Azerbaijan's preparations to host the COP29 climate conference. This year, BCAW events will take place from September 29 to October 3.

The program includes high-level policy dialogues on energy, finance, climate adaptation, small and medium-sized enterprise development, and a just energy transition.

In addition, roundtables are planned with representatives from industry and the innovation sector, green technology entrepreneurs, and sessions on new approaches to climate governance.

The main goal of BCAW 2025 is to accelerate climate action and develop cooperation between governments, businesses, and the scientific community.
