Majority of Azerbaijani citizens consider sovereignty restoration as start of new opportunities

From September 12 to 16, Azerbaijan"s Center for Social Research (CSR) conducted a nationwide sociological survey to assess public perceptions of state sovereignty, Report informs.

The poll gathered responses from 1,200 citizens aged 18 and older. According to the findings, 77.4% believe that prior to the full restoration of sovereignty, Azerbaijan"s foreign policy was constrained by the need to prioritize issues related to occupation, limiting its participation in regional and global initiatives.

Today, 96% of respondents say the country enjoys far greater opportunities on the international stage. More than 91% view the current period as enabling the implementation of the Zangazur Corridor project, while 82.5% emphasize the importance of resettling communities in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur to ensure balanced population distribution. Another 82.7% underline the expansion of citizens" rights and freedoms.

Overall, the survey shows that, in the public consciousness, the outcomes of the 44-day war and the restoration of sovereignty are seen not only as the liberation of territories but also as milestones in strengthening Azerbaijan"s international standing, shaping a victorious national identity, and enhancing the country"s strategic potential.

For most citizens, this era is regarded as both a historic triumph and the beginning of new opportunities.
