Azerbaijan presents mine action challenges at global demining forum

Contamination caused by landmines and other explosive remnants of war is one of the most serious humanitarian challenges on a global scale.
According to Report, this issue was discussed by senior officials of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) at the 16th Annual International Conference on Countering Explosive Threat & Demining Conference 2025 in London.
As part of the conference, the ANAMA delivered a comprehensive presentation titled "The Problem of Landmines and Explosive Remnants of War in Azerbaijan."
The presentation emphasized that such contamination poses a major humanitarian threat worldwide. It also detailed the scale of Azerbaijan's mine problem, the risks to human health and the environment, ongoing efforts to eliminate mine threats in liberated territories, and the innovative approaches being applied in demining operations.
The conference brought together representatives from over 30 countries and more than 150 experts specializing in explosive devices. The event served as a key platform for discussing current challenges, emerging technologies, and best practices in mine clearance and explosive ordnance disposal.
