Simon Stiell calls for global cooperation in face of climate crisis

The executive secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, Simon Stiell, has expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan, as the presidency of COP29, for its support in preparations for the 30th UN climate conference, Report informs.

Stiell was speaking at the final session of the June Climate Action Week in Bonn.

The session ended early in the morning of June 27 with the adoption of the final documents.

He expressed his gratitude to the COP29 presidency for its support, noting that he was looking forward to continuing its hard work with the incoming presidency of COP30.

According to the executive secretary, making the process of achieving climate goals more effective and faster is the only way for humanity to prevent global economic collapse caused by climate change.

Noting that there is no option B because there is no planet B, he added that already at COP30 in Belem, Brazil, it will become clear to what extent countries are accelerating the implementation of their national commitments to combat climate change and maintain the goal of global warming at 1.5 degrees.
