Two countries resume hazelnut exports to Azerbaijan

In the first quarter of this year, 7,037 tons (+50.3%) of hazelnuts (shelled and peeled) worth $ 40.33 million (+38.8%) were exported from Azerbaijan, Report informs, citing the State Statistics Committee.

3,416 tons of products worth $ 21.298 million were exported to Italy, 1,735 tons worth $ 9.511 million to Russia, 1,043 tons worth $ 6.66 million to Germany, 475.08 tons worth $ 1,143,000 to Kazakhstan, and 120 tons worth $ 744,000 to Luxembourg.

Compared to the first three months of 2021, supplies to Italy increased by 3.8 times and 4 times, respectively, to Russia - decreased by 30% and 23.8%, to Germany - rose by 10.8% and 25%, to Kazakhstan - by 2.8 times and 3.1 times, Luxembourg - by 12.7% and 20%.

During the reporting period, 191.78 tons of hazelnuts (peeled) worth $1.21 million were imported to Azerbaijan, which is 5.4 times and 3.5 times more than the same period last year.

91.62 tons of products worth $588.47 thousand were purchased from Germany, 70 tons worth $415.92 thousand from Italy, 20 tons worth $144.3 thousand from Spain, 10 tons worth $64 thousand from Poland, 0.16 tons worth $1.07 thousand from Turkiye.

Compared to January-March 2021, imports from Germany increased by 4 times and 4.6 times, respectively. A year ago, no hazelnut kernels were imported from Italy and Turkiye. After a five-year, 11-month break, supplies were restored from Spain and two years later from Poland.
