OIC countries to mull contribution of statistical services to transition to next-generation energy

The next session of the Statistical Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will be held October 1-3 in Ankara, Türkiye, Abdulhamit Ozturk, a representative of the Center for Statistical, Economic, and Social Research and Personnel Training for Islamic Countries, said at the 3rd CIS International Statistical Forum, currently underway in Baku, Report informs.
"The OIC Statistical Commission is a high-level commission that meets annually and brings together the heads of national statistical services. Between these annual sessions, we also organize a meeting at the UN Statistical Commission in New York. Next week, we plan to hold the 14th session of the OIC Statistical Commission. This session will discuss issues such as the 2026-2030 Action Plan, the role of national statistical services in supporting the transition to data-driven energy, the modernization of the national certification system (NCS) through digitalization, and the selection of one SDG (Sustainable Development Goal) indicator," he said.
Azerbaijan became a member of the OIC in December 1991. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation is an intergovernmental organization founded in 1969 in Morocco. Until 2011, it was known as the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). The organization comprises 57 states.
