Emotional intelligence is becoming one of the key factors for success in modern professions, Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO) Yusif Abdullayev said speaking in Baku at the panel discussion "Future Careers: How to Stay Relevant, Ready and in Demand," Report informs.
He noted that the ability to manage emotions is important not only in professional activities, but also in everyday, family life and even in friendly communication. It is this skill that helps to achieve truly significant results.
"Our agency is engaged in both international and domestic promotion. In this work, emotional intelligence plays a primary role. And here I will note that today's youth is noticeably ahead of previous generations: they have access to technologies and opportunities that simply did not exist before. This is a huge chance for young people to develop such skills," Abdullayev added.
He also drew attention to the importance of so-called soft skills: "Even if a person is well educated and speaks several languages, this may not be enough. You need to be able to communicate and negotiate - this is extremely important. We constantly meet with representatives of different nations, travel a lot, and in such conditions, it is the ability to keep emotions under control that becomes the basis for success. From my own experience, I can say: emotions decide everything. If you are able to manage your emotions, you are able to manage everything else."
