Global car sales drop 6.3%

Global sales of automobiles fell 6.3% to 6.463 million units in July.
Thus, 48.527 million cars were sold worldwide in the first seven months of this year.
In July, the leader in sales was China. 1.842 million cars were sold in the country, 9.8% less than the same period last year. Negative dynamics has been going on for three months due to chip shortages, rising raw material prices, and a new wave of coronavirus in China.
Western European car markets declined 23.8% to 1.01 million units in the reporting month. 349,000 new cars were sold in Eastern Europe, 9.7% less than the previous month.
