"With the support of the Asian Development Bank, Azerbaijan and Georgia are conducting a project to establish a joint customs checkpoint between the two countries," Minister of Finance of Georgia Lasha Khutsishvili said at a high-level online meeting on the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) program, the local Bureau of Report informs.
According to the Minister, this project is not only essential but also an innovative idea: "The project does not only envisages the construction of infrastructure. It will create a digital platform connecting the information systems of the two countries. We are confident that this will significantly facilitate the border crossing process and will also be a good model for the CAREC corridor."
