Azerbaijan sharply increases purchase of cheese from Russia

Azerbaijan imported 4,100 tons of cheese (+1%) worth $16.5 million (+8%) in January–August 2023, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan imported 1,600 tons (+38%) of cheese worth $2.9 million from Iran (+32%), 525 tons (+27%) worth $2.8 million (+38%) from Lithuania, 500.4 tons (+66%) worth $2.5 million (+57%) from Belarus, 770 tons (+2.3 times) worth $2.5 million (+50%) from Russia, and 357 tons (-0.6%) worth $2 million (+13.3%) from Germany.
In 2022, 15.3% of cheese worth $25 million imported to Azerbaijan (from 31 countries) came from Lithuania, 14.2% from Türkiye, 13.5% from Germany, 12.7% from Iran, and 10.2% from Belarus.
