Azerbaijan has seen a remarkable surge in the import of electric and hybrid vehicles in the first half of 2024.
According to Report, which cites the State Customs Committee (SCC), the number of imported passenger cars with hybrid engines increased by 22.3%, while their value skyrocketed by 66.8% compared to the same period in 2023.
The growth in electric vehicle imports is even more impressive, with a 33.9% increase in the number of imported passenger cars with electric motors and a 32.8% rise in their value.
The SCC attributes the decline in the import of internal combustion engine vehicles to the recently introduced restrictions on the import of passenger cars older than 10 years.
