Murvat Hasanli: Azerbaijan could become major poultry exporter

Implementation of the State Program on the Development of Agricultural Production and Processing, Fisheries, and Aquaculture for 2026–2030 will create conditions for lowering the cost of poultry meat and eggs in the domestic market and enable Azerbaijan to become a major exporter of poultry products in the near future, Murvat Hasanli, Head of the Azerbaijan Poultry and Egg Producers and Exporters Association, told Report.

According to him, the program will bring significant changes to the operations of poultry enterprises. In particular, subsidizing expenses related to increasing energy capacities and connecting to power grids will reduce production costs.

"There is no need to wait until 2030. Modernizing existing factories and equipping them with advanced technology will allow Azerbaijan to raise its self-sufficiency in poultry meat from the current 82% to 100% or even higher within the next 6–12 months," Hasanli noted.

He emphasized that Azerbaijan already fully meets its domestic demand for eggs:

"Over the past five years, no table eggs have been imported into the country. We are among the top ten countries in the world with the lowest egg prices."

Hasanli added that in 2025, poultry enterprises produced 85,100 tons of poultry meat and 1.193 billion eggs, while imports of poultry meat and related products decreased by more than 31%.
