Minister: Modern irrigation systems used in only 12% of Azerbaijan's agricultural land

Modern irrigation systems in Azerbaijan are used in only 11-12% of irrigated areas, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov said at the Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW2025), Report informs.

According to the minister, over the past few years, the use of modern irrigation systems in the country has increased from 6-7% to 11-12%.

"I am not satisfied with this. We must achieve more. We must move towards increasing the use of modern irrigation systems to 100%," he said.

The minister emphasized that when discussing climate change, people usually think of natural disasters and their consequences. However, the impact of water disasters on farmers' farms and their incomes cannot be ignored.
